James D. “Jim” Wickersham

James D. “Jim” Wickersham, 74, Logansport, passed away unexpectedly at 10:07 a.m. in the emergency room of Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born July 7, 1943, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Clarence Dale and Betty Jean (Meinzer) Wickersham.

On August 16, 1969, in the George Street Chapel in Logansport, he was married to Louise (Turner) Wickersham, who survives.

A graduate of Logansport High School, Jim served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era.

In January 2017, Jim retired from Matthew-Warren where he worked as a finisher for 47 years. He had previously worked for the Logansport Police Department as a patrolman.

Jim loved to golf. He also enjoyed fishing, yard work and just sitting on his front porch enjoying the outdoors. He was a sports enthusiasts and loyal fan of the Cubs, the Pacers and the Colts. He leaves behind his precious dog, “Tiny.”

Surviving with his wife of 48 years are six children: John (Deb) Wickersham, Matt (Denise) Wickersham, Steve Henderson, and Eric (Brya) Wickersham, all of Logansport, Jimmy Henderson of Missouri and Tony (Melanie) Wickersham, of Kokomo; one brother, Tom (Charlene) Wickersham, of Logansport; nineteen grandchildren: Zachary Frame, Jonathon Frame, Jon Nicholas Larimore, Amanda Leann Latz, Katie Wickersham, Eli Wickersham, Kisha (Brandin) Hale, Shade Henderson, Kreyl (Justin) Hall, Sage Henderson, Haley Henderson, Myckayla Henderson, Cheyenne Henderson, Tad Wickersham, Bryce Nolen, Lake Wickersham, Brady Wickersham, Mackenzie Daneley and Quentin Danely; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two nephews, Nolan and Brandon Wickersham.

A funeral service celebrating Jim’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 23 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Adam Speicher officiating.

Burial, with full military rites, will follow in Crooked Creek Christian Cemetery..

Visitation hours will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday in the funeral chapel.
