Last Updated on August 3, 2017 by cassnetwork

Lisa Swaim, the Cass County Prosecuting Attorney, announced today that Kevin Sellers,39, of Logansport was charged today with murder for the 2007 killing of his uncle, David Sellers.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed today in Cass Superior Court 2, on Nov. 8, 2007, Cass County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 1113 N. CR 600 E in Cass County, where David Sellers was found deceased in his bed in the home he shared with his nephew, Kevin Sellers. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head. Although Kevin Sellers was interviewed at the time of the initial investigation, no charges were filed.

According to the same probable cause affidavit, Kevin Sellers was interviewed on Aug. 2, 2017 on an unrelated matter which led into a discussion of the 2007 killing, during which Sellers was confronted with evidence that a multi-agency task force had compiled implicating him as his uncle’s killer. Following the interview, Sellers was arrested.

At a probable cause hearing held today in Cass Superior Court 2, Judge Rick Maughmer ordered Sellers held without bond. The matter is set for an initial hearing on Friday, Aug. 4 at 8 a.m.

Prosecutor Swaim cautions that charges contained in the felony complaint are merely allegations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.

The matter is being investigated jointly by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police.
