Theresa Murphy, 54, Mulberry, formerly of Logansport, died unexpectedly on August 15, 2017 at IU Arnett in Lafayette due to complications from surgery after a year-long fight with cancer.

Theresa Karen Murphy was born November 10, 1962 in Plymouth, IN to Robert and Deloris (Dickson) Murphy.

Theresa was a 1981 graduate of Logansport High School.  She was employed as a team leader at Subaru of Indiana Automotive.

She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church.  The ultimate Chicago Bears fan, she was looking forward to a Bears season without Jay Cutler as the quarterback.  She also enjoyed shopping with her family.

Theresa  was the definition of the word “mother” –  unselfish, loyal, self-sacrificing, and full of unconditional love to her five children: Brittany Franklin, Emelia Franklin (Michael Fry), Hannah Franklin (Gaige Wright), and Mitchell Franklin, all of Logansport, and Chelsey Franklin(Cole Steinberger),of Lafayette.

She was the epitome of the word “Nana.” She spoiled her five grand babies, Atlee, Orella, Farrah, Hezekiyalyn, and Athens beyond measure and eagerly awaited the birth of her new granddaughter.

Family was everything to Theresa. She is survived by her sisters, Pamela Murphy and Brenda (Kevin) Kranz, all of Logansport,  brother, Robert “Junior” (Kalene) Murphy, of Bainbridge, IN; and one sister-in-law, Karen Murphy, of Moore, OK. Also surviving is her long-time partner, Dave Been, of Mulberry, IN.

A funeral service celebrating Theresa’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 19 in Fisher Funeral Chapel in Logansport. with Rev. K.C. Dehning officiating.

Burial will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 18 in the funeral chapel

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital to end childhood cancer.
