Mary Jo (Tanguy) Nugent

Mary Jo Nugent, age 55, formerly of Logansport, passed away peacefully, Monday evening, September 4, 2017, in her home in Wilmington, Illinois.

Born November 9, 1961 in Logansport, Indiana, Mary Josephine is a daughter of DeDe (Lang) Tanguy of Logansport and the late Victor Tanguy. She was raised and educated in Logansport, and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University.

On September 13, 1986, Mary Jo married Ray Nugent. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wilton Center.

Mary Jo’s career was in law enforcement, and she retired as a Sergeant from Oak Brook Police Department in 2014, following 27 years of dedicated service.

She had a love of horses, and always enjoyed being with friends. Mary Jo will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile and zest for life.

Survivors include her husband Ray; mother DeDe Tanguy; siblings: Gretchen (Keith) Morgan of Greenwood, Indiana, Lindy (Walt) Deeter of Walton, Indiana, Polly (Brad) Shilling of Logansport, Indiana, Duke Tanguy of Plymouth, Indiana and Kate (Jim) Herr of Arcadia, Indiana; her uncle Robert F. “Bud” (Inez) Lang of Poway, California; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Rose (Joe) May of Oak Lawn, Bob Nugent of Bridgeview, Bill Nugent of Wisconsin, Dorothy (Keith) Jones of St. Charles, Pat (Rich) Whitaker of Batavia, Tom Nugent of Mundelein, Marilyn (Ed) Fey of Orland Park and Louise Nugent of Chicago Ridge, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends.

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her father Victor Tanguy.

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation and celebration of Mary Jo’s life on Monday, September 11, 2017 between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington.

IN LOGANSPORT, there will be a visitation on Monday, September 18, 2017, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., at Kroeger Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be at All Saints Catholic Church, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Father Dominic Petan, also on Monday, September 18, 2017.
