Applications to intern with the Indiana House Republicans during the 2018 legislative session are due Oct. 31, according to State Rep. Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo) and State Rep. Bill Friend (R-Macy).

The House Republican Internship Program offers paid, spring-semester internships at the Indiana Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis. These are full-time positions, Monday through Friday, lasting from January through mid-March. According to Friend and VanNatter, college-level students participating in the internship program work one-on-one with state legislators while developing valuable skills and connections for a professional career.

“In order to stand out in today’s highly competitive job market, you need to have a well-rounded, high-quality professional experience under your belt,” Friend said. “Our one-of-a-kind internship gives young Hoosiers the opportunity to develop their professional skills, build their resume and make lasting connections that often lead to a career. Our interns are in the middle of all the action, working with staff and legislators on issues impacting the state. I encourage anyone interested in jumpstarting their career to apply before the Oct. 31 deadline.”

“Interning with the House is a great way to gain hands-on, professional experience while in school or soon after graduation,” VanNatter said. “Interns have the opportunity to work directly with legislators and develop skills that will help them stand out in their future job searches.”

College sophomores, juniors and seniors, graduate or law students, and recent graduates of all majors are eligible. Students can apply for internships in a variety of areas, focusing on legislative, communications, video production, policy, fiscal policy and technology. Along with getting paid $750 every two weeks, students can earn academic credit through their college or university.

When submitting an application, students must also include an official transcript, resume and two letters of recommendation. FApplications can be submitted online at www.indianahouserepublicans.com/internship.
