Cass County recorder Cindy Howard says she plans to run for re-election in 2018. Howard is in the third year of her first four year term. The county recorder’s office records documents related to property, including land records and mortgages, and also records veterans discharge paperwork. Howard says there are a couple of projects underway that she wants to see finished In late 2015 the office began archiving all documents from 1968 to 1992. She says those are now imaged and need to be back-indexed. The office began an e-recording project in 2016 and in 2017 began offering a monthly subscription to records from 1993 forward. Howard previously worked for a local title company and spent six years as the secretary for the Cass County Commissioners.
