LMBC announces winning bids for Blight Elimination Program properties

Last Updated on October 23, 2017 by cassnetwork

The Logansport Municipal Building Corporation (LMBC) was awarded funds from the State of Indiana, through IHCDA, to demolish blighted and abandoned homes that are beyond repair. The goal is not simply to demolish abandoned homes, but to stabilize property values in Indiana communities. The partnership between IHCDA and Indiana municipalities allow communities to demolish blighted properties and offer a variety of end uses for the newly cleared properties including green space and redevelopment. The demolition of abandoned and blighted homes will be a significant step toward rebuilding Hoosier communities. Now that the demolition phase has been completed for thirty-three properties, LMBC has created a policy for returning properties to the tax roll. The policy is that the LMBC will consider the character and timeline of the proposed improvements, the proposed purchase price, and whether the proposed use of the real estate will serve the interest of the community. Also the LMBC will give preference to proposals for affordable housing or any improvements that will increase the property’s assessed valuation.

The LMBC sought proposals to return thirty-three (33) properties to the tax roll. A Request for Proposal (RFP) was published and the LMBC received 12 proposals. Having reviewed each proposal in accordance with the specifications of the RFP, the LMBC announces six (6) winning proposals for twenty five (25) properties as:
