Multi-agency drug investigation leads to several arrests in Grant County

Grant County – This morning, a six month long narcotics investigation by officers from the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section (DES) and the Joint Enforcement against Narcotics Team (JEAN) has led to 23 people being arrested on various drug related charges.

Early this morning, officers from the Indiana State Police, the Marion Police Department, the Grant County Sheriff’s Department, and the Cass County Sheriff’s Department fanned out across Grant County to serve 11search warrants and 17 arrest warrants. Based upon these warrants and evidence discovered during the searches, officers arrested 23 individuals on various drug related charges.

During the course of the six month investigation officers made multiple controlled buys of heroin. This led to officers developing probable cause to obtain the 17 arrest warrants and 11 search warrants which were executed today. During the execution of the warrants, officers allegedly found numerous firearms. Some of the firearms had been reported as stolen and others had the serial numbers obliterated. Officers also found crack cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and heroin.

This investigation is ongoing.

An Indictment is merely an allegation and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
