A familiar name in Logansport and Cass County for more than 40 years is recognized as this week’s Logansport Citizen of the Week.

Tom Scheetz is retiring after a long career in Logansport. Mayor Dave Kitchell says Scheetz became a go-to person to serve in various community capacities because of his commitment to give back to the community where he was raised.

“Tom and I served together on the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Board, and it was a chance for me to see not only what a good board member he was, but to appreciate how much he loved this community and wanted to see it advance in many areas,” Mayor Kitchell said.

Scheetz served on the Cass County Mental Health Association Board for 35 years and was on the Cass County Memorial Center Board for another 15 years. He served in several capacities in the All Saints Catholic Church Parish and founded the Purdue Club of Cass County. He is giving up the residency of the club, has previously been recognized as the outstanding Purdue alumni chapter.

Scheetz also has served on the Realtors Association of Central Indiana Board and was a Big Brother for 10 years.

He and his wife, Jodene, have been married for 40 years. They have two daughters, Jen and Angie, and three grandchildren.

The Citizen of the Week program recognizes current or former local residents who have made contributions to their field or to the community.
