Veterans Day Closings & Observances

Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11, 2019.

CLOSINGS:

LMU and City of Logansport offices will be closed on Monday, November 11, 2019 in observance of Veteran’s Day

The Cass County Government Building will be closed Monday, Nov. 11. Property taxes will be due Tuesday, Nov. 12.

All Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) branches are closed Saturday, Nov. 9 through Monday, Nov. 11 in observance of the Veteran’s Day holiday Branches resume regularly scheduled business hours on Tuesday, Nov. 12. For a complete list of branch locations and hours, to complete an online transaction, or find a 24-hour BMV Connect kiosk near you using the Branch Map.

Post Offices will be closed and there will be no mail delivery on Monday, Nov. 11.

VETERANS DAY PARADE: The Cass County Veterans Council will present the annual Veterans Day Parade Monday morning in downtown Logansport. Parade lineup begins at 9:30 a.m. A ceremony at 4th and Broadway, near the Cass County Government Building, will begin at 10 a.m. The parade will move up Broadway to the Logansport City Building for another ceremony.  This year’s grand marshal is Lee Gossett.

SCHOOL PROGRAMS:

LOGANSPORT HIGH SCHOOL invites all Cass County Veterans to attend our annual VETERANS DAY PROGRAM Monday, November 11,  2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Logansport High School Berry Bowl. Arrive at the Berry Bowl at 12:30 PM Please RSVP to Cheryl Reiff at 574-753-0441 Ext. 27222 Or e-mail her at reiffcm@lcsc.k12.in.us. Include the following information in your RSVP: Name, Rank, Branch of Service, Years Served, and your Military Job. Did you serve during a war?  If so, which one?

CASTON HIGH SCHOOL is hosting a Veteran’s Day Program on Monday, November 11th at 9:15 am. Breakfast for any Veteran will be served before the program at 8:40 am. Veterans should RSVP for breakfast to Deb Sailors, HS Secretary, 574-598-8000, ext. 315. Enter at the HS office at door 2.

STATE PARKS:

All veterans and active-duty military personnel, and everyone in their vehicle, will be admitted free to DNR state parks, reservoir properties, state forest recreation areas and state off-road vehicle riding areas on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Fort Harrison

This includes admission to Falls of the Ohio State Park’s Interpretive Center.

“We appreciate the sacrifices and service of our veterans and active-duty military and look forward to recognizing them with a day to explore some of the best outdoor places in our state,” said Dan Bortner, director of Indiana State Parks.

Veterans and military personnel should present ID or evidence of military service where entrance gates are in operation. For proof of military status, gate attendants will accept:

—Discharge papers (veteran’s DD Form 214)

—Veteran license plates: Ex-POW, Purple Heart, Disabled Hoosier Veteran, Pearl Harbor Survivor. Veteran license plates also include:

—Air Force Veteran

—Army Veteran

—Coast Guard Veteran

—Marine Corps Veteran

—Merchant Marine Veteran

—Navy Veteran

—U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Disability Award Letter

—Veterans hunting and fishing license

—Documents showing veteran benefits with veteran’s name on document

—Any other certificate or verification letter or form that establishes past or present military service
