Kokomo woman dies in Cass County crash

Cass County – Last night at approximately 10:15 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police and the Cass County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle crash on U.S. 35 near Cass County Road 1150 South, in which a Kokomo, IN woman died.

The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper Matt Moon revealed that Heather Titus, 33, Kokomo, IN was driving a 2006 Jeep Liberty southbound on U.S. 35 near Cass County Road 1150 South. For an undetermined reason, the Jeep traveled off the eastside of the road, into a ditch, and struck several trees.

Heather Titus was pronounced dead at the crash scene by an official from the Cass County Coroner’s Office. Brooklyn Titus, 2, Kokomo, IN, a passenger in the Jeep, was transported to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis. She was treated for cuts and scratches. She has since been released.

This crash is still under investigation, but at this time neither the use of alcohol nor narcotics is suspected as having contributed to the crash.

Trooper Moon was assisted by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, Trooper Dustin Rutledge, and Trooper Tyler Roth.
