Long appointed to airport authority

A veteran member of local boards and commissions is stepping down from one of several he has served on at the end of his term this month.

Patrick McNarny notified the Logansport/Cass County Airport Authority that he will not accept another four-year term as one of three city appointees to the six-member authority board. Mayor Dave Kitchell today announced he has appointed Molly Long to succeed him. Long, who is the branch manager of the Mall Road Beacon Federal Credit Union branch in Logansport, joins Mark Lowry and Mark Hildebrandt as mayoral appointees. She becomes the first woman ever to serve on the authority since the city and county joined forces more than a decade ago to create it. Prior to that, the city operated the airport for several decades dating back to the 1960s.

Long received her bachelor’s degree in business management from Huntington University. She graduated from the Logansport/Cass County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Academy last year and is a Chamber ambassador.

She is a 2008 graduate of Logansport High School where she was one of the school’s Citizenship Award winners. She was an All-North Central Conference pitcher for the Lady Berries softball team and currently is the assistant varsity coach of the team. She is the daughter of Mark and Michelle Long.

“We’re grateful to Pat for his many years of service not only on this board, but many others before and after his retirement as a bank president, and he will continue to serve on the Logansport Housing Authority Board,” Kitchell said. “Molly will bring some financial expertise to the board that Pat brought during his tenure. I think she will be an asset.”

McNarny’s last authority meeting is Dec. 19.
