Orpurt chosen ‘Citizen of the Week’
A financial adviser recently honored as the Outstanding Businesswoman of the Year locally is this week’s Citizen of the Week.
Wendy Orpurt was honored by the Logansport/Cass County Chamber of Commerce. Mayor Dave Kitchell says she is a role model for local students who envision their future in business.
“Wendy was recognized because she knew at age 16 in this county what she wanted to do, and she went out and made her dream happen, first through a college degree in consumer science, and then as an investment adviser,” Kitchell said.
Orpurt was credited by local economic development director Bill Cuppy as one of several local entrepreneurs who have further vested themselves in the community by expanding their business. Orpurt moved her office to a larger location on Mall Road to accommodate a growing client base.
“It’s refreshing to see her optimism for Logansport and that there are examples of people who return to our community to make their lives here,” the mayor said.
The Citizen of the Week is sponsored by the Mayor’s Office and recognizes Logansport natives or residents who contribute to the community or are recognized for their achievements. Recipients received a certificate of appreciation from the city and a $20 gift certificate.
