(Whitestown, IN) – A trio of Cass County Republican leaders have endorsed conservative businessman Steve Braun in his race for Congress in Indiana’s 4th Congressional District. State Senator Randy Head (R-Logansport), Former State Senator Tom Weatherwax (R-Logansport) and former State Rep. Rich McClain (R-Logansport) announced their endorsement of Braun today.

“Conservative governance has been good for Indiana thanks to the work of leaders like Randy Head, Tom Weatherwax and Rich McClain,” Braun said. “I want to go to Congress to do what I’ve done in the private sector, create jobs, secure the border, reduce regulations and cut spending so our kids and grandkids have the same opportunities we’ve had.”

“Steve has a proven record of creating jobs in the private sector and as a government leader,” said Senator Randy Head. “He is leading the way to train students for job openings we have right now, and his focus on vocational education will help economies in rural Indiana. We need Steve’s work ethic, business record, and Hoosier common sense working for us in Congress.”

“I like Steve’s top-to-bottom ideas based on good research to serve the large segment of our underserved public school students, those who are not the four-year college-bound students,” said Former State Representative Rich McClain.

Braun has spent his career focused on helping employers and employees, creating good paying jobs, and advising some of the largest companies in America.
“Steve has demonstrated his business success in the private sector, and then used that base of knowledge to make a real difference in our state economic development areas.” said former State Senator Tom Weatherwax.

In 1990 Steve launched Braun Technology Group, a hi-tech consulting company that he grew to more than 700 employees. During one successful term in the Indiana House of Representatives, Steve led the fight for an honestly balanced budget without raising taxes and helped eliminate the Estate Tax. Having co-authored bills that modernized Indiana’s workforce development efforts, in 2014, then-Gov. Pence named Steve Commissioner of the Department of Workforce Development.

Under his leadership, Steve led an effort to identify and eliminate fraud in the unemployment system, ultimately saving taxpayers $200 million. Under Steve’s direction, Indiana reduced its rate of veteran unemployment from one of the highest in the nation to the lowest in the nation at under 2%.

Steve and his wife of 35 years, Jennifer, have lived in Boone County for more than twenty years. They have five grown children and four grandchildren. Steve is also a founding member of the Oaks Academy school which provides a Christ-centered education to inner city youth.
