Derailment blocks two Logansport lines

Last Updated on January 24, 2018 by cassnetwork

Two cars of a southbound Norfolk Southern freight train derailed at approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday in downtown Logansport.

Logansport police, along with Cass County Emergency Management Agency Director Alvin Beckman and railroad employees remain at the scene.

The accident involved an empty grain car as it made the approach to a bridge across the Wabash River to Biddle’s Island. The car overturned, blocking the route of the former Pennsylvania/Conrail line currently owned by the Genesee & Wyoming Railroad.

No one was hurt.
