Last Updated on January 8, 2018 by cassnetwork

Ethan ManningEthan Manning has announced his candidacy for State Representative in House District 23, which includes parts of Miami, Cass, and Fulton Counties.

“I’m excited to begin this campaign for State Representative,” said Manning. “As a lifelong Hoosier, small businessman, local farmer, community leader, and conservative Republican, I look forward to talking with people all across the district to make sure I understand their views and challenges so I can best represent them in the General Assembly.”

“I must begin by thanking State Representative Bill Friend for his service to our community and state. He has been a great mentor and example for me and is a role model for all who desire to be a public servant. From township office, to county office, to 26 years as State Representative, Bill Friend has demonstrated how to leave a lasting legacy of servant leadership and a positive impact on the many important issues he focused on and the people he helped. Our next State Representative has big shoes to fill.”

Born in Peru and raised near Macy on a family farm, Ethan has been involved in the community in many ways. A 2010 graduate of North Miami High School, Ethan was involved with FFA as a two-term chapter president and involved with several projects in Miami County 4-H. His family farm, Manning Cattle Company, raises commercial beef cattle.

Ethan is an Associate Broker with Carriger Oldfather Realty, where he works with clients on residential, commercial, and agricultural property transactions. Additionally, Ethan owns and manages several residential rental properties in Miami County and owns Manning Auctions. He regularly donates his time and auctioneering talents to raise money for various local groups and causes.

Ethan grew up a member of Macy Christian Church, where he played the piano, and he now attends Grace Pointe Community Church. He is a member of the Indiana Farm Bureau, National Rifle Association, Indiana Beef Cattle Association, REALTORS Association of Central Indiana, Miami County Chamber of Commerce, North Miami FFA Ag Advisory Board, and the Miami County Republican Party.

Manning was elected to the Miami County Council in 2014 and now serves as President of the County Council. He is chairman of the Budget Committee, the Abatement Committee, and sits on the Economic Development Elected Official’s Council. Ethan has also been involved with the Association of Indiana Counties, where he serves as a member of the AIC Legislative Committee and as the Chairman of the Indiana County Councils Association Legislative Committee.

In 2015, Ethan was appointed by now Vice President Mike Pence to serve on the Indiana State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. Ethan is the President of that board and works with fellow members to administer licensing for the 12,000 Professional Engineers registered in Indiana. Ethan also holds professional licenses as a Real Estate Broker and Auctioneer.

“I believe my experience in business, agriculture, and community leadership has prepared me well for the role of State Representative. I will work hard to earn every vote.” said Manning. “I’ll be focusing on ensuring Indiana maintains a balanced budget with an adequate surplus, supporting quality education for all children, and supporting agriculture and economic development in rural communities like ours. I will also work on making Indiana one of the best places in the world to do business and create jobs, developing a 21st-Century workforce, confronting the opioid crisis, protecting the unborn and 2nd amendment rights, and making sure Indiana is the best possible place to live, work, and play for all our families. I look forward to having conversations about these and other issues over the coming months. I humbly ask for your support.”
