A local resident who has spent the majority of her life here after emigrating to the United States is this week’s Logansport “Citizen of the Week”.

Paulette Shilling came to the United States from France. Military service led to the introduction of many “war brides” to Logansport, including the late Mary Cotner, who served on the Logansport City Council, and Sheila Cody. Cotner came from England and Cody from Italy.

The mayor said Shilling represents the many examples of people who have made this country great after they moved here from another country. Shilling taught French at Logansport High School prior to her retirement.

“Paulette has always been known for a positive spirit and energy, and though she came from another part of the world, she has loved to call our city home,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said.

The Citizen of the Week is sponsored by the Mayor’s Office and recognizes Logansport natives or residents who contribute to the community or are recognized for their achievements. Recipients received a certificate of appreciation from the city and a $20 gift certificate.
