More year-end Logansport city appointees named

The new dean of students at Logansport Junior High School will take on another new responsibility next month.

Jay Jones has been appointed to serve on the Logansport Housing Authority Board. He succeeds Mike Stadjuhar who resigned after he was appointed to the Cass County Council.

He and his wife, the former Jessica Jones of Logansport, have been married 15 years and are the parents of four children, Tre, Jaycee, Jesalyn and Baylee. They are members of All Saints Catholic Church.

Jones has been graduation coach at Logansport High School. A Kiwanis Club member, he has served as the LHS Key Club advisor. He has been a youth football and basketball coach and has been a varsity football and track assistant coach for the past six years.

He resides north of the city within the fringe designated area for the authority.

Mayor Dave Kitchell also announced two reappointments Friday. Matt Lewellen, a member of the Southeastern School Board, will continue to serve as the non-voting member of the Logansport Redevelopment Commission. Two Logansport School Board members, Scott Kraud and Mike McCord, are among the five voting members. The mayor said the commission may be the only one in the state that includes three school board members and two separate school boards. Since the actions of the commission potentially affect school budgets and tax rates, board members should have voices on the commission, the mayor said.

Dave Price, a Logansport businessman, also was reappointed to the Logansport Board of Zoning Appeals. Price will serve a four-year term. Price, who owns and operates Priceless Banners, has been active in youth sports for several years.
