Doran announces candidacy for State Representative in House District 23

Last Updated on February 18, 2018 by cassnetwork

Today I am announcing my candidacy for State Representative in House District 23, which spans much of Cass and Miami counties and a smaller portion of Fulton County.

I must admit I was humbled when approached about the job. I am especially pleased to say that I have bipartisan support as I begin this journey. I am also blessed to have my wife and partner, Brenda, of 27 years as well as our three children Jeff, Tony and Judy to help, to support and to keep me on the straight and narrow.

We are at a crossroad in our state. It is time for us to lead by example with Hoosier common sense and civility; to make sound fiscal decisions that promote economic prosperity and bring quality jobs to all Hoosier cities and towns. Our rural communities have been overlooked for too long. The state’s economic development efforts pass over cities like Logansport and Peru. Our schools are struggling to keep talented teachers and the opioid crisis is hitting rural communities especially hard.

I was raised by hard working parents and I learned the value of their labor. I have nearly twenty years of experience in sales and management and I am currently employed with Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo.

I have been involved in local government in Logansport for more than a decade, first as a volunteer followed by a Parks board appointment and presidency. Later as president of the Parks Foundation I worked with community leaders in creating the 86 acre park now known as Huston Park on Logansport’s North side. I currently serve the city as an At Large City Councilman and sit on both the Finance and Planning and Zoning Committees.

My experience, I believe, makes me uniquely qualified to serve the folks in my district. I know first hand how decisions made at the state level impact rural communities like ours. I have also learned how to address those issues with a common sense straight forward approach whether it is taxation, the opioid crisis, education or economic development.

I firmly believe that my life’s work and knowledge gained in city government have prepared me for this position. Please help me to bring jobs, housing and prosperity to our area so that our children will stay and raise their children here as well.
