On Feb. 19 at the Statehouse, State Rep. Bill Friend (R-Macy) and State Senator Randy Head (R-Logansport) honored the Lewis Cass marching band for winning the 2017 Class C Indiana State School Music Association Marching Band Championship.

The Lewis Cass High School Marching Kings placed first among 10 schools competing for the 2017 state title. This was Lewis Cass’ eighth state championship. They also brought home their first national title.

“The Marching Kings have, yet again, gone above and beyond to bring home the championship title,” Friend said. “These students put in countless hours of preparation in order to perfect their performance, and I am happy to share their triumph with my fellow lawmakers.”

The Lewis Cass marching band also broke the record for being the only marching band in Indiana to be a state finalist in the ISSMA marching competition for 36 consecutive years.
