Kenneth Roy Knickrehm Sr.

Kenneth Roy Knickrehm, Sr. 79, of Logansport, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born July 26, 1938, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Ernst A. and May A. (Harold) Knickrehm.

Ken was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving his country from 1956-1960. Prior to his retirement, Ken was the director of maintenance at the University of Michigan.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2790 and the Masonic Lodge. Ken enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He was an excellent cook and loved to take charge in the kitchen. Ken loved his family dearly, including his canine “child”, Dutchess.

Surviving are his life companion, Deb Williamson, of Logansport; his children: Sheryl (husband Steve) Layer, Kenneth “Kenny” Knickrehm, Jr., Linda Friskey, all of Logansport, and Laurie Schauer, of Walkerton, IN. one sister, Susanne “Sue” (husband Chuck) Allen, of Monticello; his grandchildren: Jacob Layer, Joshua Layer, Micaela Layer, Kayla Goodman, Chad Swango, Robin Swango, Christopher Patton, Laine Vincent and Richard Schauer; eight great-grandchildren and four nephews, Greg, Keith, Jeff and Lyle Knickrehm.

He was preceded in death by his son, Charles E. Knickrehm and his brother, Fred Knickrehm.

A funeral service celebrating Ken’s life will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 12 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Aaron Gross officiating.

Burial will follow in the Ever Rest Memorial Park, Members of the U.S. Air Force, the Cass County Honor Guard and Patriot Guard will provide military honors.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday in the funeral chapel.
