As the weather continues to be undecided, HOT then COLD, Area Five Agency on Aging and Community Services would like to remind the community that they continue to accept applications for enrollment in the 2017-2018 Energy Assistance Program (EAP). Families have the opportunity to submit one application during the program year, which began Oct. 1, 2017 and goes through May 18, 2018, for a one-time assistance with their heating bills during the winter heating months, as funding is available.
Visit areafive.com and click on the “Financial and Housing” tab and then on “Energy Assistance” for the Energy Assistance Program (EAP ) application and energy saving tips and ideas in a video to expand knowledge of how to conserve energy in your home.
The energy education survey you complete after watching the video will aid you in getting your FREE energy saving kit. The Energy Savings Kits are available to families that have been approved for Energy Assistance and participate in an Energy Education opportunity to learn energy conservation techniques for the home. Participation can be completed from the comfort of your home, online, or in a face-to-face setting at the Area Five office. For a face-to-face appointment, call 800-654-9421 or your local Area Five Agency on Aging and Community Services Office. Energy efficient items in kits vary yearly but the type of items may include compact fluorescent light bulbs or LED light bulbs, thermometers, faucet aerators along with other tips and tools. All kids must be picked up at the local office by you or your authorized representative listed on the survey by Aug. 10, 2018.
