The LHS Speech Team will be sending six competitors to the State tournament following the team’s 4th place finish at Sectionals on Feb. 24.

Seniors Matt Calisto, Jon Raderstorf and Alex Starkey earned their finalist position by placing 6th and 3rd in discussion, and 4th in humor, respectively.

Juniors Caleb Sholty and Josiah Richey placed 3rd in Oratory and 6th in Radio, respectively, while sophomore Diana Pearson placed 6th in Informative.

Stefanie Diaz, Ben Baker and Max Baker were honored as top ten semifinalists as well.

The State tournament will be held at Fishers High School on March 10 and will celebrate the speaking skills of the top 48 speakers in each of the 14 IHSFA events as they compete for top honors.

This year’s State tournament will also serve as a “benevolence in the neighborhood” collection site, which will benefit the Logansport High School pantry and Emmaus Mission Center. Interested donors may donate non-perishable food or hygiene items to LHS the week of March 5-9.

At the State tournament all participating teams will be encouraged to donate items to the Logansport community, as we are the recipients of this year’s collection. Next year, all teams will donate toward a different community’s needs.
