A Logansport High School senior who accomplished a rare feat last weekend at the state music contest has been chosen as this week’s Logansport Citizen of the Week.

Sara DeInnocentes recorded dual first place ratings on separate flute and piccolo solos. Of the hundreds of students from throughout the state who came to North Central High School for the competition, less than half are soloists, and a far smaller group performed solos on two separate instruments.

“Sara received a near perfect score on one solo, and at a time when we’re appreciating Olympians who perform at the highest level, we need to remember there are students here in Logansport performing at the highest level in music when they’re not required to do it,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said today. “Logansport has long been known for its music department and Sara’s is proof positive that our students are excelling to achieve at the highest level in Indiana.”

The Citizen of the Week is sponsored by the Mayor’s Office and recognizes Logansport natives or residents who contribute to the community or are recognized for their achievements. Recipients received a certificate of appreciation from the city and a $20 gift certificate.
