Officers with the Logansport Police Department received a call of a hold-up alarm at PNC Bank, located at 1 Cass City Center in downtown Logansport, at 12:51 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7.

According to a news release, the first officer to arrive on scene noticed all power to the building was out. Upon looking through the front entry doors into the lobby of the bank, the officer saw that the south glass door to the lobby, which leads to other sections of the building, was shattered. Other officers arrived on scene and established a perimeter around the building. Within a minute or so, officers observed a male subject inside the lobby area of the bank, crouching down in the southeast corner of the room. Officers gave verbal commands to the subject to open the door, but according to the release, the subject would not comply. A short time later, a keyholder arrived on scene and officers were able to make entry into the bank and take the suspect into custody.

Daniel Wyma, 25, of Logansport was initially charged with burglary and transported to the Cass County Jail.

LPD says it appears that he was in the building for a lengthy period of time before allegedly breaking the glass door to the bank and activating the alarm. Officers checked the entire building and found several doors on other businesses where an attempt to gain entry had been made, but it is unknown at this time whether the suspect gained entry into any of the other businesses in the building.

The case is still an active investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Logansport Police Department at 574-753-4101.

Cass County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police and Galveston Police Department assisted at the scene.
