Cass County Community Foundation announces $25,000 match opportunity for proposed Walton Community Center

Last Updated on May 8, 2018 by cassnetwork

The Cass County Community Foundation is excited to announce a new $.50 for $1 match opportunity to support the local funding for the proposed new Walton Community Center. The Foundation is offering up to $25,000 in matching dollars to help raise the $100,000 needed locally. The match period will begin on Tuesday May 1, 2018 and run to Tuesday May 8, 2018. All gifts must be new and made to the Cass County Community Foundation and marked for the Walton Community Building Project. Donations may be made in person, via U.S. Postal Service or through the CCCF website at www.casscountycf.org.

“This has been nearly a two-year project,” stated Rick Lee, Walton Town Manager. “The Community Center is the result of several local partners working together including the Town, the Walton Lion’s Club, the Walton Main Street, Inc. and the Cass County Community Foundation. The plan is to have a new facility to serve to our residents and community groups. The building will have seating capacity of 150, ADA accessibility and will serve as an emergency shelter with a back-up generator. We have a lot of community support and are excited this project is moving forward.”

CCCF President Deanna Crispen said, “Our board of directors recognizes the tremendous need in our smaller communities for appropriate gathering places. The leadership in the Walton community has already completed major preliminary work for this new facility and we are very impressed with their efforts. Our support with matching dollars will not only help them fulfill philanthropic criteria for a Community Development Block Grant but also encourage others to invest and make local donations.”

The Cass County Community Foundation Office is located at 729 E. Market Street, Logansport and is open M-F, 9am-5pm. For more information, contact the foundation at 574-722-2200.
