The Cass County Community Foundation is excited to announce the results for the $.50 for $1 match opportunity to support the local funding for the proposed new Walton Community Center. The community led by Walton Town Manager Rick Lee, Jeff Leffert, Mac Martin and volunteers raised $81,079.41 as of the end of the match period earning another $25,000 from CCCF for a total of $106,079.41.

CCCF President Deanna Crispen said, “The outpouring of support from the Walton community for this project has been outstanding and a credit to the leadership who have worked tirelessly to make this community gathering place a reality. Many of the local businesses have provided generous support for the project.”

Crispen said, “We are still continuing to receive donations but as of noon today with the dollars raised and the match, Walton has $106, 079.41 in hand. This surpasses their goal of $100,000 and fulfills the local match necessary to apply for a Community Development Block Grant.”

Rick Lee stated, “The Community Center is the result of several local partners working together including the Town, the Walton Lion’s Club, the Walton Main Street, Inc. and the Cass County Community Foundation. The plan is to have a new facility to serve to our residents and community groups. The building will have seating capacity of 150, ADA accessibility and will serve as an emergency shelter with a back-up generator.”

Donations are still being accepted and any additional funds will be earmarked for the proposed playground adjacent to the new community venter.

The Cass County Community Foundation Office is located at 729 E. Market Street, Logansport and is open M-F, 9am-5pm. For more information, contact the foundation at 574-722-2200.
