City says property owner was misidentified

An error in identifying the current owner of a north side property will dismiss the former property owner from any cost of cleaning up the property.

The Logansport Board of Public Works and Safety Wednesday authorized a Street Department clean-up of property along Wall Street near Matthew-Warren. One of the owners was identified as Stebbins Enterprises. The property was transferred by former owner George Stebbins. When contacted Wednesday, he acknowledged the transfer occurred in January.

“We regret that he was misidentified as one of the owners involved,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said Thursday. “Our code enforcement officer indicated to the board that a representative of Stebbins Enterprises had signed a letter acknowledging receipt of problems at the property, which was apparently received by the company.”
