Demolition of a former bank drive-thru in the 400 block of E. Market St. in Logansport is scheduled to begin Monday, June 11.

The Logansport Comprehensive Plan shows current parking lots in downtown Logansport as infill lots for future development. In February 2017, the City of Logansport purchased the downtown lot where the former Salin Bank drive-thru was located for $34,335, with the intent of moving forward with the comprehensive plan and creating parking so that if development opportunities arise on other privately-owned lots, the city would have a property with similar use available to swap.

Last year, the City of Logansport encumbered approximately $8,000 for demolition of the building which will take place this week. The Logansport Redevelopment Commission recently approved $34,000 in TIF funds for the paving of the lot, with help from the Logansport Street Department for pavement markings. The Redevelopment Commission also approved $12,480 for a landscaping wall to meet the downtown standards for a parking lot.

The project will provide approximately 41 parking spaces.
