Logansport, IN—Security Federal Savings Bank has raised $25,000 for the students participating in Junior Achievement programs in Cass, Tippecanoe, Howard and Carroll counties. The money was raised with the help of area residents, local businesses and the Community Cares initiative powered by the Discover® Global Network.
Junior Achievement is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices. Junior Achievement’s programs—in the core content areas of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy—ignite the spark in young people to experience and realize the opportunities and realities of work and life in the 21st century.
The $25,000 amount was raised through Community Cares, a charitable initiative run by Discover Global Network, the global payments network of Discover Financial Services. The initiative lets bank customers route corporate donation dollars to organizations in their neighborhood—without doing any additional spending. Donations were accumulated when Security Federal Savings Bank customers completed specific tasks, such as visiting a bank-affiliated website and liking posts on social media. The program also allowed local businesses to give back to the community. Businesses who started accepting Discover® Debit had a $250 donation made on their behalf when they processed their first payment from a Security Federal Savings Bank Discover Debit card.
Security Federal Savings Bank has a long history of community support, but they chose to partner with the Discover® Global Network Community Cares initiative because it allowed their customers to get involved and helped them raise $25,000 for Junior Achievement in just a matter of weeks.
