Cass County Community Foundation awards 2018 community grants
The Cass County Community Foundation held a press conference and reception to announce the recipients of the 2018 CCCF Community Grant Awards on August 30, 2018 at the foundation office, 729 E. Market Street. Attendees included representatives of the recipient organizations, as well as donors, board members, volunteers, and members of the media. This year, the Cass County Community Foundation awarded 4 organizations grants totaling $59,349.51.
Deanna Crispen, President shared, “The committee did a great job evaluating each proposal and the possible impact of the projects. This year, only proposals with total costs of $5,000 or more were eligible for this cycle in order to help organizations focus on bigger needs. Earlier this spring, the Foundation announced proactive awards totaling $66,500 including $25,000 in matching dollars for the town of Walton’s Community Center, $21,500 for the Cass County Robotics Teams, and $20,000 for the 2018 Christmas in the Park “Waving Santa display”.
Funding for community grants is made available through the generosity of donors to CCCF’s unrestricted community endowments.
The following is a list of the 2018 Community Grant Award recipients and their projects:
Servants At Work (SAWS)— $8,000 to work with juvenile detention in building and installing handicap ramps in Cass County
Emmaus Mission Center—$10,900 for a forklift to use at the food pantry. (Request was for $8,900 but committee felt they should use the donations in hand for food and other necessities).
Cass County 4H Association ––$27,921 for Goat/Sheep Barn Renovations( Request was for $21,587 but committee felt donations already in hand could be used to finish other projects.).
State Theatre Preservation Society— $12,528.51 for new audio/sound equipment update
Total distribution for the four recommended grants at the press conference is: $59,349.51. Total Community Grants to date for 2018 total $131,474.
