Crowe honored as Citizen of the Week

A man who has literally spent much of his life working for the city of Logansport in various capacities is honored this week.

Former Deputy Mayor Paul V. Crowe has been named the Citizen of the Week by Mayor Dave Kitchell. Crowe served on the Logansport City Council before taking over the reins as deputy mayor with the passing of Francis Perrone.

“Paul worked diligently behind the scenes as deputy mayor and was instrumental in working through all the details necessary to update the city’s tornado warning system,” Kitchell said Tuesday. “His efforts led to the best advanced warning system the city ever had. Given our location in the middle of the nation’s ‘Tornado Alley,’ his contributions have never truly been appreciated.”

Crowe returned to his post with the Logansport Municipal Utilities in 2000 before retiring this week.

The Citizen of the Week is a city program honoring Logansport natives or former residents who have made contributions to the city. In addition to a certificate, recipients receive a $20 gift certificate to a local restaurant.
