Jennifer Jo Russell

Jennifer Jo Russell, 63 of Winamac formerly of South Bend and Speedway passed away peacefully at 11:55 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Dupont Hospital in Ft. Wayne.

Born on April 10, 1955 in Logansport, she was the daughter of E. Joseph and Emily Collings Russell.

She graduated from Winamac Community High School in 1973 and held a degree in business from Indiana University.

Jennifer was a talented, multisport athlete and served as president of the Girls Athletic Association in high school. She was an advocate for equal opportunities for girls in high school athletics. Jennifer played GAA volleyball and basketball where she led in scoring. She was also an accomplished musician and regularly played the piano and organ duets with her father as a teenager.

After college, she had a successful career in banking and property management. Jennifer was an open wheel racing enthusiast. She enjoyed the Indy 500 from her home near the speedway.

She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Survivors include her mother, Emily Russell of Winamac, sister, Kim Russell of Winamac, Steven Russell (Bob Figuley) of Miller Beach, niece, Mackenzie Ledley (Brian) of Winamac and nephew, Benjamin Ulm of Lake in the Hills, Illinois. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Angel.

She was preceded in death by her father, E. Joseph Russell and brother in law, Larry P. Lyle.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Winamac with Pastor David Marty officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

Burial will be at McKinley Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Winamac Community High School Girls Basketball Team.
