Logansport Memorial Hospital Donates $200,000 to the YMCA

Last Updated on August 13, 2018 by cassnetwork

The Cass County Family YMCA has a lot to celebrate lately. Today, the Y announced that they have accepted a generous $200,000 gift from Logansport Memorial Hospital.  The money is being given toward the recently announced capital campaign that will fund a $3.5 million total renovation of their 51-year-old facility located at 905 E. Broadway in Logansport.

Perry Gay, President and CEO of Logansport Memorial Hospital had this to say about the gift: “As a county hospital, we believe that we have an obligation to provide for our community’s healthcare needs. We know that we do that with our hospital services, but it is also important to do that as part of worthwhile community improvement projects, like the YMCA’s current project. So many community members depend on the Y’s offerings to maintain or improve their health, and that closely aligns with our ongoing goals of population health management, as we work to help people live better and healthier lives. A strong and vibrant community where people want to live and work needs to have a strong healthcare infrastructure in place, and a growing YMCA is a key part of that. I can’t think of a better project to support, or one that more clearly illustrates ‘Building Better Health,’ and I look forward to seeing our community enjoy the results of these efforts for many years to come.”

“We are excited to receive this gift from Logansport Memorial Hospital towards our capital campaign.” says Derreck Parkevich, Executive Director of the Cass County Family YMCA.  “I am grateful to Perry Gay and all the LMH administrators for believing in our vision to renovate our YMCA both inside and out. Because of the support of Logansport Memorial Hospital, we are one step closer to having a more vibrant YMCA for our community to enjoy for years to come. We both pride ourselves on improving our community’s quality of life and this gift demonstrates their commitment to ‘Building Better Health’ in our community. The Y is thankful for Logansport Memorial Hospital and all they do in our community to make Cass County a great place to live.”
