Here are five things you might want to know for Monday, Aug. 13, 2018:

BID OPENING FOR LMU’S MELBOURNE AVENUE PROJECT, CITY BUDGET MEETINGS
A special meeting to open bids for the Melbourne Ave. Wet Weather Project is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, 2018 in the LMU Board Room, located on the third floor of the Logansport City Building.

The Logansport City Council will meet at 5 p.m. Aug. 13 and Aug. 14 in the council chambers in the City Building. According to the meeting notice, the purpose of the meeting is to consider proposed 2019 budgets.

LOGANSPORT MEMORIAL HOSPITAL MAKES GIFT TO CASS COUNTY YMCA
The Cass County Family YMCA has accepted a $200,000 gift from Logansport Memorial Hospital. The money is being given toward the recently announced capital campaign that will fund a $3.5 million total renovation of their 51-year-old facility located at 905 E. Broadway in Logansport. Logansport Memorial Hospital president and CEO Perry Gay said that as a county hospital, the organization believes it has an obligation to provide for the community’s healthcare needs.

IVY TECH OFFERING EXTENDED HOURS
Ivy Tech Community College’s Logansport campus is offering extended hours during the weeks of August 13 and August 20 to help students challenged to get in during regular office hours.

Staff will be on hand from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday to answer questions about admission, financial aid and registration to help students be ready for class when the fall semester begins Aug. 20. Students with an Ivy Tech email account are urged to see if there are important financial messages in their inbox.

CCCF SPONSORING FOOTBALL FOOD DRIVES
The Cass County Community Foundation will be sponsoring their annual food drive at the opening football game of the season at Lewis Cass High School between the host Lewis Cass Kings and Pioneer Panthers. On Friday August 17, 2018 fans for both teams can visit the CCCF Tent to support their team and help local food pantries. Fans bringing nonperishable or canned food items to help the hungry will receive their choice of a Panther or King Rally towel.

The Community Foundation food drives continue at Logansport High School on Friday August 24 where the Berries take on the Frankfort Hot Dogs. Berries fans bringing food will receive a red Felix rally towel to cheer on the Berries.

On August 31, the CCCF tent will be at the Crater at Caston High School for the Comets big game against Triton. Comet fans will receive special Caston Rally Towels for donating canned goods and other food items.

This will be the 8th year for the CCCF food drives and items collected at the three sites will be shared with the four local communities! Cheer on our high school teams and help feed the hungry!

CCRN MEETS THURSDAY

The Cass County Resource Network will meet Thursday, August 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Intersection Coffee Shop. The meeting will be focused on networking and lunch will be provided. Those who wish to attend are asked to rsvp by e-mailing zach@thebridgelogansport.com.
