Sara “Janie” Schneider

Sara “Janie” Schneider, age 75, Winamac, formerly of Logansport, passed away at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, in Franciscan Health, Indianapolis.

Born January 26, 1943, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Thomas F. and Erma Louise Burk Keener.

Janie was a 1961 graduate of Logansport High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University in 1965 and a master’s degree from Indiana University Kokomo in 1981.

For 29 years Janie was a second grade teacher at Eastern Pulaski Elementary School, retiring in 2008.

Surviving are a daughter, Amy L. (Rob) Nelson, New Paris, Indiana; a son, Michael W. Schneider, Greenwood; sister, Carol L. (Phil) Waechter, Florida and sister-in-law, Betty Keener, Bloomington.

Also surviving are two grandchildren, Benjamin Nelson and Elizabeth Nelson; niece, Tania (Dave) Currier; nephew, Jeff Waechter; two great nieces.

Preceding in death were her parents, a brother, Jerry L. Keener and ex-husband, Robert W. Schneider.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Janie’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Kroeger Funeral Home, with her son-in-law, the Rev. Rob Nelson, officiating.

Interment will be in Walton IOOF Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, prior to the service.
