Employers to participate in Ivy Tech Kokomo Technology open house Sept. 27

KOKOMO, Ind. — Anyone interested in learning more about how they can step up into high-skilled, high-demand, high-wage jobs – for now and in the future – should plan on coming to a Technology Open House at Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo on Thursday, Sept. 27.
The open house is set for 5 to 8 p.m. at Ivy Tech Kokomo’s Technology Center at 1912 Trialon Court at the corner of Trialon Court and Touby Pike. Part of Ivy Tech’s observance of MFG Day (National Manufacturing Day), the event will include participation by a number of area employers who will be on hand to discuss current and future job opportunities and the importance of training and certifications offered at Ivy Tech. Participating businesses include Syndicate Sales, Material Processing Inc., Heraeus Electro-Nite, Rochester Metal Products, and FCA US.

Ivy Tech faculty, staff and students will present a variety of activities and demonstrations. Hands-on experiences for visitors will involve robotics, 3-D printing, virtual welding, CNC machining, agricultural soil lab, automotive experience, HVAC/Trane experience, and advanced manufacturing.

The event will showcase the wide variety of high-tech, hands-on training available at Ivy Tech across all age and educational attainment levels. High school students, their parents, and people looking to advance their skills and job opportunities are encouraged to attend.

On Oct. 5, the nationally designated MFG Day, Ivy Tech Kokomo is inviting area schools to bring students from the eighth grade through high school for a student open house from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The student open house will focus on real-world opportunities afforded by advanced manufacturing and technical education. Companies participating in the Oct. 5 student program include Syndicate Sales, Material Processing Inc., Mid States Engineering, Rochester Metal Products, and FCA US.

The MFG Day event is part of Ivy Tech’s focus on meeting the workforce needs of Indiana communities.
