Two teachers who have spent their careers at Columbia Elementary School will be recognized Oct. 31.
Ashley Gangloff, who is in her 11th year at the school, has been named the 2018 Margaret Newby Teacher of the Year. Patty Piercy, who recently retired from Columbia, has been named the 2018 Margaret Newby Retired Teacher of the Year.
Both will be recognized at noon Oct. 31 at the annual awards luncheon at West Side Diner. A representative from the Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction’s Office will be on hand to present the awards. Any friend, colleague or family member who would like to attend can reserve a spot at the luncheon by contacting the Mayor’s Office at (574) 753-2551.
Gangloff and Piercy were among several nominees for the third annual award which is named for a career Logansport elementary teacher, the late Margaret Newby.
