Peru man arrested for alleged rape and kidnapping

Peru – Friday afternoon, a criminal investigation by Indiana State Police Detective Brent Ingram led to the arrest of Dustin Day, 35, Peru, IN.  Day was arrested in Norwood, NC. Officers from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, assisted by the Stanley County Sheriff’s Office, served Day with a Cass County, IN arrest warrant alleging felony charges for rape and kidnapping.

On August 7, 2018, Detective Ingram initiated an investigation after a 26-year-old Tippecanoe County woman reported that Day had allegedly raped her. The crime purportedly occurred in Cass County, IN.

The investigation revealed that on August 6, 2018, Day allegedly entered the woman’s car, uninvited, near her Tippecanoe County residence. He was purportedly armed with a handgun. Day allegedly drove the purported victim to a rural Cass County road and raped her. He is also alleged to have held her against her will for approximately 17 hours.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
