STATEHOUSE— State Sen. Randy Head (R-Logansport) gathered with fellow legislators today at the Statehouse for Organization Day — the ceremonial start of the 121st Indiana General Assembly.

Organization Day is made up of the swearing in of new and returning General Assembly members as well as the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers. This day also allows each Senate and House of Representatives caucus to organize before session officially reconvenes Jan. 3.

The 2019 session is a budget year, meaning lawmakers will craft a comprehensive plan to fund government services for the next two years. By law, the 2019 legislative session must be completed by April 29.

“During the upcoming session, I will continue working to address the opioid epidemic facing our state and help strengthen Indiana’s workforce for the future,” Head said. “As my colleagues and I write our state’s next budget, I will advocate for funds to improve workforce development and keep our students safe.”

As the 2019 session begins, Head encourages residents of Senate District 18 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have by email at Senator.Head@iga.in.gov or by phone at 800-382-9467.
