KOKOMO, Ind. — For the 11th year, Ivy Tech Community College is partnering with Kokomo Grain to present a series of free seminars on relevant topics in agriculture. This year, four morning sessions will be held in the community room at Ivy Tech’s Logansport Campus, 1 Ivy Tech Way, in Logansport. The first session is set for Wednesday, Feb. 13.
“With ever-increasing technological advances and new processes in the field of agriculture, we are very pleased to work with Kokomo Grain to share these updates each year in conjunction with our academic programming,” said Lisa Paxton, chair of the Agriculture program for Ivy Tech Kokomo.
“Today, students can earn associate degrees in agriculture in the Kokomo service area, with courses at both the Kokomo and Logansport campuses,” she continued. “Graduates with Associate of Science degrees may then transfer to institutions offering bachelor degrees in agriculture, including Huntington, Purdue, and Vincennes universities, to prepare for a range of ag careers that can extend far beyond the family farm.”
Topics to be covered in the Agriculture Seminar series range from trends in farmland values to the use of drones in thermal imaging of soil to establishing an agribusiness entity to trucking rules. Light refreshments will be served.
