John L. “Ted” Barrett

John L. “Ted” Barrett, age 80, Logansport, passed away at 11:42 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024, in WoodBridge Health Campus.

Born January 7, 1944, in Logansport, he was the son of Norbert L. and Eleaner C. Fettig Barrett.

On October 19, 1963, at St. Bridget’s Church in Logansport, he was married to Sharon Leazenby Barrett, who preceded him in death on September 5, 2022. John was a devoted family man who always referred to Sharon as “my Queen”.

John was a 1962 graduate of Logansport High School.

He was retired as a tool & die maker from Chrysler Corporation, Kokomo Transmission Plant.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and was a student of history.

Surviving are his beloved children, Cathy Barrett Bryan, Logansport, Mike (Barb) Barrett, Westfield, Steve (Michelle) Barrett, Warsaw and Julie Barrett Johnson, Indianapolis.

Also surviving are grandchildren, Ashley (Eric) Groganz, Brianna Barrett Cover (Kyle), Nathan Bryan (Isabelle), Megan Barrett, Alison (Jon) Wheeler, Alex Barrett (Brenna), Maxwell Johnson; eight great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sarah Barrett; a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Vincent Barrett, Charles Barrett and William “Bill” Barrett; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann Penz and Mark Penz.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 24th, at Kroeger-Crain Funeral Home.

The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Monday, also at Kroeger-Crain Funeral Home, with Father Josh Janko officiating.

Interment will be in Shideler Cemetery, Cass County.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
