Michael Gene Rhea, 64 of Logansport, Indiana, passed away Tuesday evening, September 22, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent, Indianapolis, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born July 26, 1962, in Columbus, Ohio, where his father was station at Wright-Patterson AFB, he was the son of the late Harold Eugene Rhea and Lois Ann (Underwood) Yoder.
Following graduation from Pendleton Heights High School, Mike entered the United States Army. He was self-employed as a construction worker. Mike could build anything and fix anything – he was born with that natural ability. Woodworking was not only work but a hobby he enjoyed and made several planters as gifts. Mike loved to joke around, which endeared him to his family and friends. He was quite fond of cats, especially his own baby, “Peanut”.
He is survived by one daughter, Ashley Rhea; three brothers, Terry (Diana) Rhea, Brett Rhea, and Bob (Dedee) Rhea; one sister, Teresa Hamilton; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial, with military honors, will be held at Legion Square in Mount Hope Cemetery, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
