Helen Crockett, 92, of Royal Center, Indiana passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at home.

Born November 2, 1933, in Logansport, Indiana to the late Oral and Bessie (Smith) Robertson. She grew up in Georgetown in a small home with nine siblings.  You could roll down the hill behind their house and land in the Wabash River.

A 1951 graduate of Royal Centre High School, Helen went on to graduate from the Western Union Telegraphy School in Battle Creek, Michigan.  There, she met her future husband, who had chosen a career path with the U.S. Air Force.  As a military wife and mother during the Vietnam War era, she lived in Michigan, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, Colorado, and Japan.  Following their divorce, Helen returned to Burnettsville where she enjoyed life with her children and grandbabies.

As a young woman, Helen worked at Maiben’s Laundry.  While living in Colorado as a military wife, she worked at the Campus Grocery Store and the Colorado State College. Helen dedicated 35 years to Trelleborg, retiring on June 30, 2003.

She found her greatest joy in simple, peaceful things, tending to her garden, sewing with a careful hand, and getting lost in a good book. When her boys were young, she served as a Cub Scout den leader. She traveled on several senior bus trips – visiting Branson, Missouri several times as well as New York City. She also loved bowling for the Corporate Challenge each year.

She is survived by her sons, Mike, Greg and Matt Crockett; daughters, Teresa VerMaas and Shelly Beasy; sisters, Wilma Bowman and Pat Hall; brother-in-law, John Lind; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Marilyn (Joe) Weaver, Donald (Betty) Robertson, Geneva Kozma, Michael Robertson, Sandra Lind, Richard Robertson and infant Charles Robertson; one son-in-law, Terry Beasey; and brothers-in-law, Larry Bowman and Jerry Hall.

A visitation will be held at Fisher Funeral Chapel in Logansport, Friday, October 9, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. with a memorial service following at 7 p.m. with Dawn Fisher officiating.
