AFTER APPLICATION IS RECEIVED

-The easiest way to check status is the portal (see fact sheet on EMA Facebook page)

-You may receive a request for follow up information. If you receive a denial letter, it will specify reasons for denial. Sometimes all that is needed is a little more documentation. Be sure to read the letter in its entirety.

-You will receive a phone call from an inspector. This may come from an out of area phone number. It is important to follow up, as assistance will not move forward until after the inspection is completed.

FEMA STAFF IDENTIFICATION

-All FEMA staff will have FEMA photo ID readily available

-FEMA will never charge for providing help, or for assisting you through the application process

-Scams occur following any disaster. Be vigilant for individuals claiming “FEMA Sent me” and requesting payment. This is not how disaster assistance works. FEMA personnel and contractors will not ask you for money.
