Experience and Acceptance Message from Stacy Cox:

I decided to run for an elected position in Logansport for two reasons. I felt it was a chance for me to make a difference in the community I call home. Secondly, after commuting for several years, I wanted to work in Logansport to be near my daughter who was starting kindergarten.

Once in office, I quickly learned what a large job I had ahead of me. Serving as the Clerk-Treasurer for the last 4 years has taught me so much about how local government functions. I have spent countless hours working with my staff and department heads to make necessary changes, identify areas needing improvement, and how we could operate more efficiently and accurately. We’ve upgraded equipment, moved to electronic records, and improved several processes. I’ve worked well with the city council and all department heads to cut costs without sacrificing services or quality allowing the city to run more efficiently and cost effectively. Together, we’ve grown city cash balances $2.7 million dollars in 3 years. I’m incredibly proud of all the strides we’ve made as a team, but I also feel there is still so much more I want to accomplish.

When I started talking with Chris Martin about his goals and plans for his term, I was excited to hear of all the thoughts we had in common. Later, we spoke about potential opportunities within his administration that could allow me to continue all the great things we’ve started and the improvements we still hope to complete. One example is the joint City and LMU software upgrade that is just entering the RFP stage. The new financial system will be phenomenal for the City and the Utility so I’m grateful to be here to help see it through. Ultimately, I chose to accept the position of Deputy Mayor because it will allow me to continue serving this community, which is something I’ve always enjoyed. I’ll be able to help the Mayor learn from my experience and I’ll be able to support the new Clerk-Treasurer at the same time. I applaud Chris Martin for selecting experience throughout his administration. I’m honored to be a part of a team dedicated to working together and focusing on a positive future for Logansport.

Message from Mayor-Elect Chris Martin:

In keeping my promise of surrounding myself with experience, I have no doubt that Stacy Cox is the person I can work with in the same office, sharing a positive attitude and not being negative about others. Stacy and I have spoken multiple times after the election and have shared many visions for Logansport. Stacy has experience with all the department heads, and as the deputy mayor, she will be their leader in the mayor’s office. I’m not keeping things the way they’ve always been and it’s important for us, as a community, to stop focusing so much on party affiliation after an election. The Martin Administration has over 100 years of experience, contributed to it by both parties. It’s time to get to work and stop worrying about an election for the next four years. Together, we will succeed!

Experience and Acceptance Message from Dahrol Perry, Director of Communications

My name is Dahrol Perry, and although I am a native of Winter Haven, Florida, this community has been my home for the past14 years. I am a 2010 graduate of Logansport High School, and was a participant in the2009Good Government Day Program, appointed by then “Mayor for the Day,” and current Mayor-Elect Chris Martin.

The Mayor-Elect and I first met on a high school trip to the 2009 Presidential Inauguration, put together by our late high school government teacher Kasia Minnick. She had assigned us as roommates in the hotel room that we stayed in during our 4 day expedition throughout the nation’s capital. Since then, Mayor-Elect Martin and myself have bonded over our passion for public service, and we have worked on numerous projects together throughout our 10 year friendship, including co-founding Logansport Backyard Sports in 2013, which to this date, still holds a very special place in my heart.

LBYS saw roughly between 30 and 50individuals from within our community, and from surrounding cities participating in its activities. From 2013 –2015, I was responsible for its management, content, and media, and put together promos and advertisements. The content that I produced, as well as our social media presence which I spearheaded, landed us on the front page of the Pharos Tribune, in the Spring of 2015.

I have done various work as a freelance photographer and videographer for the past 8 years, and I’ve also worked in the fields of customer service and human resources. I am currently employed as a Direct Support Professional Workshop Supervisor for clients with disabilities at Peak Community Services, where we help them set goals, and develop the skills that they need to succeed in the workforce. While working that job, I became the campaign manager for Mayor-Elect Martin’s 2019 municipal campaign, and focused mostly on shadowing the candidate at public events, and working behind the scenes to create roughly 90 –95% of the content used for his campaign materials, billboards, and advertisements. I also created and managed the candidate’s social media page throughout the campaign, and created the “Mayor McBarnes Endorsement Video” that recently took Facebook by storm, and was watched by roughly 9.6 thousand people.

Mayor-Elect Martin and I have worked very closely since the election on efforts to increase transparency, and to make local government more interactive, opening up a dialogue between our elected leaders and the constituents of this community. In the coming months, and for the next 4 years,as incoming director of communications,I am honored to have the opportunity to expand even further on that work, and to put the citizens of Logansport, in the room,as our newly elected officials work tirelessly towards making this community the best that it can possibly be.

Statement from Mayor-Elect Chris Martin on Appointment:

One of the things mentioned time and time again, is that Logansport has never been marketed the way that it should be. I have always felt that this community should have true transparency from the mayor’s office. Under the leadership of Dahrol Perry in communications, Logansport will have an opportunity to finally reach that mark, and open up local government unlike never before in this community. Dahrol has the experience in handling media communications, and you’ve seen the amazing work he’s been able to produce throughout our campaign this year. This is something Logansport needs, wants, and it won’t cost anymore of the taxpayer’s money. It’s time to grow Logansport’s future and market our city in the best ways possible. I am excited to have Logansport’s first director of communications in Dahrol Perry. Together, we will succeed!
